I. Student Achievement

  1. Ninety percent of all third graders will read at grade level by the end of third grade.
  2. Ninety percent of all students will pass algebra by the end of the ninth grade.
  3. Teachers will implement standards-based curriculum in the core subjects of language arts, social science, math, and science.
  4. Classrooms will have and use standards-based, district-adopted materials and textbooks.
  5. Fifty percent of tenth graders and 100 percent of twelfth graders will pass the Language Arts and Mathematics sections of the High School Exit Exam.

II. Safety

  1. We shall establish, implement and monitoruniversal norms for behavioral, social, and academic interactions throughout the District for students, staff, families and community members.
  2. We shall develop indicators and benchmarks against which to monitor progress.
  3. We shall ensure that all district learning environments are safe, drug free and conducive to learning.
  4. We shall convene a Safety Task Force and follow through on its recommendations.

III. PersonnelTraining/Professional Development

  1. We shall align all employee accountability procedures and evaluations to relevant state and national standards.
  2. We shall provide training and support for implementation of adopted Board goals.

IV. Facilities/Resources

  1. We shall seek funding to further our student achievement goals.
  2. We shall seek funding to complete the Facilities Master Plan.
  3. We shall identify, implement and enforce Board policies and goals that guide professionalism and quality in facilities planning, development and oversightprocedures.
  4. We shall leverage the bond funds to the greatest extent possible.
  5. We shall incorporate the voice of the community in the use of bond funds.

V. Family and Community Partnerships

  1. Families and community members will be meaningfully involved in the governance of our schools and as partners to ensure the highest quality education for all students.
  2. We shall adopt and implement a framework with measurable indicators that includes:
    • The six types of involvement for family and community members:
      1. Parenting
      2. Communicating
      3. Volunteering
      4. Learning at Home
      5. Decision Making
      6. Collaborating with the Community
    • A regular report of outcomes.

VI. Equity

  1. We shall make every effort to balance experience levels and teaching talent of our teachers among our schools.
  2. We shall make every effort to place certificated and qualified teachers in all K-12 classrooms.
  3. We shall eliminate institutional racism and close the achievement gap.

VII. Communications

  1. We shall improve the quality and outcomes of negotiations by:
    • 1. Developing, seeking and implementing collaborative problem-solving models with our bargaining units.
    • 2. Working with the unique needs of sites.
    • 3. Developing the resources and strategies to recruit and retain staff.
    • 4. Meeting the needs of all students.
  2. We shall continue to seek general public input and feedback throughout the District by conducting study sessions and educational summits/workshops.
  3. We shall maximize every opportunity, including technology, to improve the quality of communication between the Board of Education and the community it serves.
  4. We shall build communication processes that reflect and adhere to universal norms of behavior, academic and social interaction.
