Welcome to the Ohlone Elementary School Website
Ohlone School, named for Indian tribes who once lived in the Hercules area, opened its doors to 99 children in 1979. Ohlone Park is located adjacent to the school among stands of eucalyptus and oak trees, and is said to be the Ohlone Tribes' ancient burial grounds. Ohlone School has 120 Limited English Proficient (LEP) students representing 14 languages.
Ohlone School strives to provide a stimulating learning environment which challenges the students, teachers, administrators, and staff members to reach their maximum potential. We seek to empower students to adapt to the changing technological, academic, and social skills of the future by studying the present and the past. Students move from a singular and personal perspective to an expanded world view. This leads to a better understanding of themselves, other people, their cultures and environments. Our goal is to help them become thinking and contributing members of society, who take an active role in designing their own futures. Operating a School-Based Coordinated Program provides greater flexibility in coordinating various funds, meeting the obligations to students with special needs, and providing for staff development
