March
meetings Q and A Sheet
Answers to the questions you asked at the March 11-13 meetings
The district held
a second round of public input meetings where staff reported back
to the community on feedback received at budget meetings held in February
(see below), and presented a budget
solutions plan that incorporated this input. In small group discussions,
community members provided further
feedback by responding to three questions:
• What works about the plan?
• What needs to be improved or changed?
• What questions do you have?
February
Public Feedback
In February the district held six community budget meetings in each
of its high school areas to share information about the impact of
the state fiscal crisis on WCCUSD schools, and to engage community
members in the budget planning process for 2008-09. In small groups,
participants discussed and gave input on three questions:
• What programs, services, or activities should the district
never cut?
• What programs, services, or activities should the district
consider for reductions?
• How can the district lessen the impact of the state budget
reductions, and is a parcel tax one way to do this?
The district collected and summarized
the resulting input from the more than 600 people who attended the
six meetings.
